Hey there ya'll! I'm back with chapter 3! As I warned at the end of chapter 2, it's kinda sad, but it's also funny! I'll explain the title of the chapter at the end of this chapter. Don't forget to send me e-mail at runnerup2001@netscape.net I don't own Sailor Moon or any of those other really cool (and not so cool) characters. So please don't sue me! I'm just a pitiful little writer who hasn't hurt anyone in her life (well...) and why would you want to hurt this pathetic and peaceful friend to (almost) everyone? And now on to chapter 3! New Snow by Chichiri Chapter 3- Fishy Crackers "Well, she'll be all right," Mamoru said. "But she should stay in bed and not be moved for a while." "If it wouldn't be too much trouble for you, would it be all right if Serena stayed here? I think it would be best not to move her at all," Ami suggested. "I could stay too and help you take care of her since I'm studying to be a doctor as well." "I think that's the best idea for Serena's recovery," Mamoru agreed. "We need to go tell Serena's parents, then," Ami said. "And we should pick up some of her things." "All right, let's go," Mamoru said. Turning to the other girls, he asked, "Could you three stay here and take care of Serena? We shouldn't be away too long." "We'd be happy to," Minako agreed and Rei and Makoto nodded. "Bye, we'll be back soon," Ami said as she and Mamoru left, shutting the door behind them. "I hope Serena will be all right," Minako said worriedly. "Of course she will," Makoto said. "We may not remember everything about being Sailor Senshi, but I certainly remember that Serena is a fighter. Where did Rei go?" "I think she went to go look in on Serena," Minako said. "I'll go check." Minako walked to the door of the bedroom and peeked. "I'm sorry, Serena," Rei said quietly. Minako turned and nodded, walking back over to Makoto. "Well, how about if we make some soup for Serena?" Makoto said, heading for the kitchen with an excited gleam in her eyes. "That's a great idea, Mako-chan," Minako said following her into the kitchen. 'I wonder what Rei was apologizing for,' Minako thought. "Serena will be absolutely fine, Mrs. Tsukino," Ami insisted. "It's just a precaution." "But how long will she have to stay at Darien's apartment?" Mrs. Tsukino asked. "Only a few days and I'll be staying with her so you'll have nothing to worry about," Ami went on. "Darien is studying to be a doctor and so am I, so Serena will be in good hands." "I suppose I really have no choice if moving her will hurt her," Mrs. Tsukino consented. "Can I see her?" "Of course!" Ami exclaimed. "Now, how about if you help us pack a few of her things?" "Sure," Mrs. Tsukino said, leading Ami and Mamoru up the stairs to Usagi's room. "I'll have to tell her father that she's working on that project at your house, Ami, or else he'll probably kill Darien." Mamoru turned red. After packing some of Usagi's things, and after stopping at Ami's house to pick up a few of her things and tell her mother where she was going, Ami, Mamoru, and Mrs. Tsukino arrived back at Mamoru's apartment. "Mako-chan has been in the kitchen! It smells delicious!" Ami exclaimed as they walked in the door. "The soup isn't for you, it's for Serena," Makoto said. "I made sandwiches and cake for everyone else. Hi, Mrs. Tsukino. Your welcome to have some food, there's plenty for everyone." "Has Serena woken up yet?" Ami asked. Minako shook her head. Mrs. Tsukino grabbed a sandwich and went to go check on Usagi. "I'll be right back," Ami said. "I'm going to go check on Serena and see if she has improved any." Ami left and the others gathered around the table to eat. A few minutes later, Ami came back and sat at the table. "She hasn't changed," Ami said. "She's fine, but I wish she would wake up." It was around midnight when Usagi awoke. Mrs. Tsukino had left shortly after dinner and Minako, Makoto, and Rei had followed a while later. Ami had set up a make-shift bed on the floor by Usagi and Mamoru had taken some blankets to go sleep on the couch. Usagi opened her eyes and looked around the dark room. She wondered where she was and struggled to sit up. Looking around the room again, she noticed the glass doors that led onto the balcony. Usagi climbed out of bed and stood up, pain shooting through her body. She stifled a cry and walked slowly and painfully towards the doors. She quietly opened the doors and stepped out onto the balcony. The air was cold and crisp and Usagi shivered. The full moon shone silver in the velvet sky. Usagi looked at the moon. 'Queen Serenity,' Usagi thought. 'I failed. I tried to fight, but the Senshi had to come save me. I wanted them to be happy like I could never be, and I failed them.' "Princess Serenity," Queen Serenity's voice spoke and she appeared beside Usagi. "No one could have tried harder than you to fight evil alone. You tried so hard to make me proud, but you don't have to. I am already so proud of you, my dear Usagi. I admire you for your courage and bravery in battle. You have the hardest life in the world, living two separate lives: Sailor Moon and Usagi. Keeping your two lives separate and still being as happy as you are takes a great deal of strength. Never say or even think that you have failed. As my daughter, Usagi, you have made me the proudest mother in the universe." "Thank you, Queen Serenity," Usagi said, tears of happiness sparkling in her eyes. "No one could have a better mother in the entire universe." Queen Serenity gave her daughter a half-hug and disappeared. (If you're wondering why Queen Serenity only gave Usagi a half-hug, it's because she's a spirit and she doesn't really have a form. If she gave Usagi a full hug, she would go right through her.) Usagi began to walk slowly back into the apartment, but before she reached the door, she fell and a small cry escaped her lips. Ami jerked awake and looked at Usagi's empty bed. She felt a breeze from the open door and scrambled out the door. "Serena! Are you all right?" Ami asked bending down to help Usagi stand up again. "What are you doing out here? It's freezing!" Before Usagi could answer, Mamoru came out. "What's going on? Are you all right, Serena?" Mamoru demanded, concerned. ÍI'm fine," Usagi insisted. "I came out to look at the moon and the stars, they always comfort me when I'm sad." "Still, we better check to make sure you're all right," Ami said, leading Usagi back inside. After checking to make sure she was all right, Ami said, "You're fine, Serena. But you need to stay in bed and rest so you won't get hurt again. If you move too much, you'll reopen your wounds. It's important to rest. Goodnight." "Goodnight, Ami. Goodnight Ma--" Usagi corrected herself, "Darien." "Goodnight, Meatball Head," Mamoru said as he left the room. "Goodnight, Mamo-chan," Usagi whispered softly to the darkness. The next morning, Ami checked on Usagi. ÍGood morning, Serena. How are you feeling?Î ÍI hurt all over, but otherwise IÌm fine,Î Usagi said, forcing a smile. ÍAmi, can you call the others over here for a meeting?Î ÍAre you sure youÌre well enough for a meeting?Î Ami asked concerned. ÍYes, IÌll be fine,Î Usagi insisted. ÍBut can you get rid of Darien somehow?Î ÍDonÌt worry. IÌll arrange everything,Î Ami assured Usagi. ÍDarien,Î Ami said as she walked into the living room where Mamoru sat on the sofa. ÍCould you do me a favor? Can you go out and buy some... uh... fishy crackers? From what IÌve read, I think it will really help SerenaÌs recovery. And you know, Serena, sheÌs always hungry.Î ÍUh... sure,Î Mamoru agreed. ÍDo you know--Î ÍCan you hurry?Î Ami interrupted. ÍI have to get back to Serena. Bye.Î Ami quickly disappeared back into UsagiÌs room. After Mamoru had left, Ami called the other senshi and told them to come over for a meeting. Usagi sat in bed propped up by pillows and the other girls had found chairs and gathered them around the bed. Luna and Artemis sat on the bed at UsagiÌs feet. ÍIÌm really sorry, you guys,Î Usagi apologized. ÍI didnÌt want you to have to be awakened again. I wanted you to be happy, normal teenagers, like I can never be. I wanted you to know that I tried to let you be happy and that I am sorry that I failed.Î ÍBut Serena, you havenÌt failed us,Î Makoto assured her. Makoto and Usagi had always been the closest of the five, ever since the Silver Millenium. ÍWe are honored to be Sailor Senshi with you as our leader. We are sworn to protect you at the cost of our lives if need be. We five are like sisters, weÌve missed being friends with you, even if we didnÌt remember it. Deep in our hearts we knew that we were missing one of our best friends.Î ÍThatÌs right,Î Minako said. ÍYou are the best friend that any of us have ever had.Î ÍYes,Î Ami agreed. ÍYour heart is so open and caring; and you never judged us because we fought too much or studied too much or didnÌt hang around after school or worked at a temple. You were the first person who cared about us for who we are inside.Î Rei was silent. ËI wonder what Rei thinks,Ì Usagi thought. ËShe never seemed to like me that much.Ì Aloud she said, ÍThanks, guys. YouÌre really great friends. IÌm happy that we get to be friends again. And even though we argue sometimes and pretend not to like each other, I still like all of you.Î The last part Usagi had directed to Rei. Rei looked up and smiled, but the smile didnÌt reach her eyes. ReiÌs purple eyes sparkled sadly and Usagi thought she saw tears welling up in her eyes. ËRei, whatÌs wrong?Ì Usagi asked mentally, but she received no response. ÍSo, how did you get your memories back?Î Artemis asked. ÍWell, we didnÌt really,Î Ami answered. ÍWe just remembered enough to transform and attack. All of a sudden, we sensed that Serena was in danger, and then we transformed.Î ÍIn that case, IÌll have to restore the rest of your memories,Î Luna said. ÍAre you ready?Î The girls nodded. ÍAll right, I need you to concentrate on the memories IÌm sending you. Concentrate really hard.Î Usagi watched as the girls and Luna were bathed in a glowing golden light. She saw their faces change from happy to sad and back as they remembered the good times and the bad. When Luna had finished restoring their memories, the girls silently thought about everything that they had been through. ÍI have to go,Î Rei said abruptly and she fairly ran out of the room. ÍI wonder whatÌs wrong with Rei?Î Usagi wondered. ÍSheÌs probably just having a bad day,Î Minako said, but Usagi knew that wasnÌt the problem. Five hours later, Ami asked, ÍI wonder where Darien is? He must still be looking for the fishy crackers. I hope he doesnÌt stay out all night.Î Ami giggled. ÍWhat are fishy crackers, anyway?Î Usagi asked. ÍWell, IÌve never had any or seen any, but theyÌre crackers in the shape of a fish,Î Ami explained. ÍI heard about them from my pen pals in America. Their favorite flavors are chaddar and the original.Î ÍMmmmm, they sound good,Î Usagi sighed thinking about food. ÍNow IÌm hungry.Î ÍIÌll heat up some of Mako-chanÌs soup for you.Î Ami turned and headed for the kitchen. ÍFishy crackers, huh?Î Andrew asked. ÍYep,Î Mamoru answered. ÍIÌve looked in every store I found in the phone book. I canÌt find them anywhere.Î ÍOne of my pen pals in America mentioned fishy crackers once,Î Andrew said. ÍHey! I think I know where we can find some! Come on!Î ÍI got the fishy crackers!Î Mamoru shouted as he returned to his apartment eight hours after leaving. ÍWhat?!?Î Ami asked incredulously. ÍOh, uh... thatÌs great!Î ÍI got ten bags- five of the original flavored and five of the cheddar flavored. I hear theyÌre the best!Î Mamoru smiled. ÍWow,Î Ami said, amazed that he had actually found some. ÍHey, Ami,Î Mamoru said. ÍI know you just wanted to get rid of me for a while, but couldnÌt you have picked something a little easier to find?Î ÍWhat? Get rid of you? Why would we want to do that?Î Ami asked, trying to play innocent. Seeing MamoruÌs skeptical look, however, she confessed, ÍAll right, itÌs true! How did you know?Î ÍIÌm sorry to break it to you, Ami, but youÌre a terrible liar,Î Mamoru said. Ami blushed bright red. ÍSo donÌt bother trying anymore. If you want me to leave, you can just ask me.Î ÍBut this is your apartment,Î Ami objected. ÍItÌs okay, I donÌt mind,Î Mamoru insisted. ÍIÌm sorry that I lied to you,Î Ami apologized. ÍSo, where did you find the fishy crackers, anyway?Î ÍWell, after looking unsuccessfully for five hours, I ran into Andrew,Î Mamoru explained. ÍI told him about the legendary fishy crackers and he knew of a place where we might be able to find them. So we drove an hour and a half to a store that sells stuff imported from America. Then we drove an hour and a half back here.Î ÍWow,Î Ami said. ÍI didnÌt expect you to actually find them, let alone search for them for so long. Well, letÌs see if theyÌre any good.Î ÍHey, Meatball Head! I got you some fishy crackers!Î Mamoru called as he and Ami went into UsagiÌs room. The next morning, all the bags of fishy crackers were empty (and no, Usagi did not eat them all by herself!). Well, thatÌs it for Chapter 3. How did you like it? E-mail me at runnerup2001@netscape.net with any questions, comments, flames, etc. Or you can just talk about socks if you want to. So now, like I promised, IÌll explain about the fishy crackers. Miaka and I LOVE fishy crackers!! TheyÌre so yummy! And so addictive, just ask Miaka. So we just HAD to write them into my story! Thanks for the idea Miaka! So, now that youÌve finished reading my story so far, go read MiakaÌs ÍA White Rose, A Red Rose.Î ItÌs SO spiffy!! Never mind what she thinks, I think itÌs totally spiffy!! ThatÌs all for now! (YouÌre thinking, Ëfinally, sheÌs done! now I can get away from this boring story and go to sleep.Ì Yep, thatÌs right, I read minds.) Until the next chapter, ~Chichiri
