Melissa “So Serena, what are we doing Friday after school?” Mina asked as we sat around in Raye’s room at her grandpa’s temple. Luna and Artemis were playing with a ball of yarn that Mina had brought for them. “I don’t know what you guys are doing, but I’m going to be celebrating my anniversary. Darien’s got something planned.” I said as I absent-mindedly starred out the window. “Then why aren’t you as happy as you should be?” Lita asked gently. “Because. Friday is more than a normal annivesary. I’m just afraid Darien won’t remember the special occasion.” I spoke softly. “Which special occasion is it other than your annivesary?” Amy asked. “It’s the exact 1000th anniversary of the day that she and Darien kissed for the first time, and fell in love on the moon.” Raye spoke as she came and sat next to me. “Really! Wow, Serena, that certainly is something to celebrate. So, do you think he’ll remember?” Mina gushed as she starred at me. “I’m not sure he’ll remember. I hope so, but I’ve realized that with the brainwashing Beryl did, I don’t know what’s going on in his head.” “Serena, that was almost four years ago. I’m sure he’s recovered from all that.” Raye said as I just starred at the fire. “None of us can be totally sure. Besides Raye, he’s been forgetting a lot lately. He couldn’t even remember what Reenie’s real name was yesterday. Now, would you like to take this conversation any further?” I asked as I stood up. “I’m going for a walk. I’ll be back to grab Luna before I go home.” I said heading to the door. “Serena, don’t worry. I’m sure, absolutely positive, he won’t forget Friday’s extra special occasion. Have some faith.” Raye said giving me a hug before I left to assure me. * * * * * “Oh, Darien. I hope Raye’s right and you remember what Friday is. I don’t think I could explain that entire thing to you without breaking down and crying.” I said as I sat down near the lake. I was in our special spot. A place where I can think about stuff and find answers. A place to feel love. “Usako, what are you doing out here all by yourself for?” A voice asked from behind me. There was one person, and one person only that ever called me Usako. “Darien. What are you doing here?” “I was just on my way to the scout meeting to see ya about Friday and for some reason I felt the urge to come to the park before I came to get you. What’s wrong?” “Oh nothing. I’m just being my usual crybaby self. I wanted to come here and clear my mind and be able to release my feelings without the Senshi around to bug me. So, what did you want to talk to me about?” “Um, do you know what Friday marks?” he asked as he sat next to me. “Yes, do you?” “Yeah. Serena, I’m not sure I’m going to be able to take you out.” “Why?” I asked as tears began to brim on my eyes. “Because, I have to work at the hospital that night. I just found out this morning.” He said putting his arm around me. I became very agitated after he told me and pulled myself out of his embrace. “I’m going to go get Luna and go home. I’ll talk to you later.” I said flatly and left. “Serena! Wait!” he said rushing after me. “Leave me alone. I don’t want to talk to you right now for fear that I might yell. I’m going home, is it okay if I send Luna over to talk to you tomorrow?” “Yeah, sure. Are you going to come, too?” he pleaded. “No. I have to study for a mid-week quiz. Goodbye Darien.” I said as I headed for the temple. Little did I know that the two of us were being watched.
